Privacy Policy

The short version: SpotStash does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There is no account, no server, and no network code in the app.
What the app reads
After you grant photo library permission, SpotStash reads photos from your library for two purposes only: to identify which photos contain fish, and to read the GPS location and date metadata those photos already contain. Both steps run on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device photo and vision frameworks.
Photo permission can be changed or revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. Revoking it stops all scanning.
What the app does not do
- No account creation, sign-in, or user identifier of any kind.
- No network requests. The app has no backend service to communicate with.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising, attribution, or tracking.
- No third-party software development kits bundled in the app.
- No photos, locations, or exported files uploaded anywhere.
Where your results live
Recognised catches, your keep/reject decisions, and any notes you add are stored in SpotStash's private storage on the device. Deleting the app deletes that data. Nothing is retained elsewhere, because there is nowhere else.
When data leaves the device
Only when you choose to send it. Tapping Share hands a GPX or CSV file you generated to the iOS share sheet, and the file then goes exactly where you send it — AirDrop, Files, email, or another app. Those destinations are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
iCloud photos
If your library uses iCloud Photos, location metadata usually remains available on the device even when full-resolution images do not. An optional setting lets SpotStash request original images from iCloud during a scan. That request goes to Apple's iCloud service under your own Apple Account, is off by default, and sends nothing to us.
Children
SpotStash is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
App Store privacy label
Every category in SpotStash's App Store privacy disclosure is answered "Data Not Collected."
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. A change that introduced any data collection would also require a new App Store privacy label and an app update.
